Project Objective:

Lovelace had their website running on Squarespace and wanted to move it to a web builder that would offer more flexibility and scalability, including integration of other tools. I suggested Softr, as this is one of the easiest nocode tools to build a landing page and a client portal, and for the company owner to operate this in the future.

Purpose:

Having an online presence and possibly an option to build a portal around services.

Design & Inspiration

Lovelace had a visual branding and type of imagery in place. They used imagery from Squarespace, so I adapted the look and found more visuals on Pexels, the platform that is used by Softr.

Approach & Steps taken

FrontEnd

Content & Organisation: The contact form is handled by Softr's predefined authentication capabilities.

Functionality: The site consists of simple building blocks that Softr provides as well as a contact form.

Design: It is simple and traditional website with a lean structure - pages have been optimised for web, tablet and mobile view with sometimes slightly different arrangements and block flow.

Backend

Content & Organisation: For the listing options on the services section, an Airtable is in use which can be still built out to handle much more functionality.

What decisions did you take?

What were the consequences?

We created this on the free tier of Softr that does not allow for custom code.

So it was a bit of a challenge to find workarounds for some looks and functionality. However, I was amazed at all the options that are possible with Softr, it just took some time to explore in Softr's forum and trying out different building blocks to get the desired outcome.

Retrospective

If you could, what would you do differently?

It would really be more about building out the site in case more content is coming and Lovelace want to enhance it with more info - such as testimonials or an online payment offering.

Successes:

The basic branding and design had been very well crafted and it was easy to find a consistent look using imagery from Pexels through Softr's offering.
